RAMADAN KAREEM
Ramadan Kareem - The month of worship, forgiveness, and understanding the needy
Ramadan Kareem is a month that holds great significance in the lives of Muslims. It is a month of the Islamic calendar where Muslims worship more than usual and try to seek Allah Almighty's forgiveness. During this holy month, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. It might seem like a lot but it certainly isn't. Just to clarify some queries and assumptions non-muslims have, let's go through the basics of Ramadan.
⬤ Signifigance of Ramadan:-
The holy month of Ramadan is important to Muslims as during this month Allah Almighty revealed the Holy Quran on our beloved Prophet Muhammad (P. B. U. H). Another reason is that it's said that during this month Allah Almighty locks up the shaytan.
⬤ Fasting during Ramadan:-
Muslims fast during this month. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Allah Almighty wants us to fast to understand how the needy people feel when they aren't given proper food and diet. Fasting might seem hard but it actually is really beneficial and great for your health.
"When we fast, the body does not have its usual access to glucose, forcing the cells to resort to other means and materials to produce energy. As a result, the body begins gluconeogenesis, a natural process of producing its own sugar. The liver helps by converting non-carbohydrate materials like lactate, amino acids, and fats into glucose energy. Because our bodies conserve energy during fasting, our basal metabolic rate (the amount of energy our bodies burn while resting) becomes more efficient, thereby lowering our heart rate and blood pressure."
This is a paragraph from https://www.bouldermedicalcenter.com/6703-2/ explaining that fasting can help basal metabolic rate be more efficient, lowering our heart rate and blood pressure. Even doctors recommend to fast as it's beneficial. Doctors recommend fasting for 10-24 hours and that's how long Muslims fast!
⬤ A start of good things...
During Ramadan, many adopt new and better habits. During Ramadan who don't pray 5 times a day, can adopt this new habit of praying 5 times a day! Those who don't read Quran daily can be habitual of reading the Quran every day.
... and an end of bad things:-
It's said that it takes about 21-30 days to give up on bad habits and adopt better ones. Well, guess what, Ramadan lasts for about 29-30 days! In this month, you can try to leave behind your old and undelightful habits and can try to adapt better and pleasant habits.
Ramadan is a month that teaches you the hardships of badly off people, it teaches us that waiting isn't hard, it teaches us that God is the most merciful and wants us to ask for forgiveness. Ramadan is the month when Allah Almighty showers his blessings unlimitedly! So, try your best to gain all of them!
